Jess Dobernic, a pitcher who won seven games in the major leagues, died on July 16, 1998 in St. Louis, Mo.

In his career, he was 7-3 with a 5.21 ERA in 112.1 innings pitched.

Dobernic was 21 when he debuted with the Chicago White Sox in 1939. He pitched 3.1 innings in four games and allowed five earned runs.

He did not appear in the major leagues again until 1948. He pitched in 54 games for the Cubs that season and compiled a 7-2 record and a 3.15 ERA in 85.2 innings pitched.

In 1949, he pitched briefly with the Cubs and Reds and did not appear again in the major leagues.
