Benny Culp, a catcher who played in 15 games over three seasons for the Phillies, died on Oct. 23, 2000.

He had 5 hits in 28 at-bats in his career and drove in 2 runs.  All of his hits came in 1943 when he played in 10 games and had 24 at-bats.  He scored 4 runs in those 10 games.

Culp served in the military from 1944 to 1945 during World War II.  After he returned, Culp served as a coach with the Phillies in 1946 and 1947.
