He was 79.Wynn debuted in the major leagues with Washington in 1939 and pitched until 1963. His career numbers include 300 wins, 2,334 strikeouts and a 3.54 ERA.He won 20 games or more three times in his career — four times with the Indians and once with the White Sox. In 1959, he finished 22-10 for the White Sox and won the Cy Young Award at the age of 39.Wynn earned a reputation for knocking down batters and was once asked in a famous line if he would throw at his grandmother. The quoted response from Wynn was “Only if she was digging in.”He also hit well for a pitcher and collected 17 home runs in his career.He joined Cleveland in 1963 one win short of 300.
