Following his timeat Clemson, Spiers became the starting shortstop for the Milwaukee Brewersin 1989. In his rookie season, he hit .255 with 4 home runs, 33 runs battedin and 10 stolen bases. He appeared in more than 100 games in a seasonfour times for the Brewers over the next six seasons. In 1995, he had aone year stint with the New York Mets and then ended up with the Houston Astros in 1996. He has been with Houston since and has become a valuableutility player who can step in for injured starters.In postseason play, Spiers has three hits in 36 at-bats with two runs batted-in and a stolenbase. Spiers retired after the 2001 season.
