Dave Gerard, who pitched in 39 games for the Cubs in 1962, died on Oct. 10, 2001 in Newtown, Penn.

He finished his major league career with a 2-3 record and 3 saves while compiling a 4.91 ERA in 58.2 innings. He recorded 30 strikeouts.

The next spring, in March 1963, the Cubs sent Gerard, along with Danny Murphy, to Houston for Dick LeMay, Hal Haydel and Merritt Ranew.
