Negro League player James Buster “Buzz” Clarkson made his major league debut with Boston during the 1952 season. Clarkson was 37 years old.

He was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers of the American Association in 1950 and played for the team until 1952. Available statistics show Clarkson hitting 24 home runs for Milwaukee over three seasons.

In 1953, in the Texas League, Clarkson is credited with hitting 42 home runs and driving in 135 runs for Beaumont and Dallas.
