He was 88.His professional career also included the AAA Portland Beavers.Following the 1940 season, reports are that Loane was traded to the Chicago Cubs. However, he left the game to pursue a job outside of baseball and to spend time with his family. His career included work as a chemical engineer for Georgia Pacific.Following his career in baseball, Loane qualified twice for the U.S. Amateur Championships in golf, according to his obituary.Source: Monterey, Calif.
