In 1950, while playing forRochester, he was named Most Valuable Player in the International League.That season, he led the IL with a 2.17 ERA.  He made his Major Leaguedebut that season with the St. Louis Cardinals. He appeared in 5 games,pitching 14.2 innings. In 1951, he pitched 195 inningsfor the Cardinals and finished with a 7-13 record. From 1952 to 1953, hewas out of baseball, serving in the U.S. military. In his career, Poholsky finishedwith a 31-52 record with 30 complete games, 316 strikeouts, and 104 startsin 159 games.
