In six seasons, he finished with a 16-21 record and one save in 316.2 innings pitched. He recorded 201 strikeouts and a 4.38 ERA.He was 21 years old when he made his debut with the New York Giants on July 2, 1954 and he pitched six games that season.In 1955, he returned to the team, pitching 94.2 innings with a 3.99 ERA in 28 games. His most productive season came in 1958 with the San Francisco Giants when he compiled an 8-11 record in 43 games. He pitched 150.2 innings that season and recorded 93 strikeouts with a 4.72 ERA.He did not pitch in the major leagues in 1959, but returned to pitch a single inning in 1960.
