Hilly Flitcraft, who debuted with the Phillies in 1942, died on April 2, 2003 in Boulder, Colorado. He was 79.

Following two years out of baseball, Flitcraft returned in 1945 to pitch for Wilmington of the Inter-state League. He was 15-4 with a 3.89 ERA that season.

He retired against after the 1945 season and made another comeback with Carbondale in 1946. His last season in baseball came in 1947 when he played outfield and first base for Portsmouth.
