Click here for detailsDick O’Connell Died: Aug. 18, 2002 Cheap Red Sox Tickets www.seacoastticket.comDick O’Connell, a former Boston Red Soxgeneral manager, died on Aug. 18, 2002, at the age of 87.O’Connell started working for the Red Soxin 1949 and worked his way up in the organization, becoming executivevice president and general manager on Sept. 16, 1965. He helped to build the Red Sox teams thatwould become contenders for the AL Championship, appearing in the 1967and 1975 World Series.  The Red Sox won at least 83 games each yearfrom 1967-77 including 3 seasons with 90 or more wins.  In five ofthose years, the Red Sox led the AL in attendance.He is a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame.
