Pembroke Finlayson, a pitcher who was born in Cheraw, South Carolina, in 1888, pitched briefly in the major leagues in 1908 and 1909.

He pitched a third of an inning with Brooklyn in 1908 and then 7 innings with Brooklyn in 1909.  He finished his career with an 11.05 ERA in 7.1 innings pitched.

He died on March 6, 1912 in Brooklyn, some three years after pitching in the majors.  According to The Baseball Necrology, Finlayson’s death was the result of “peritonitis of the heart, brought on by an injury he received while pitching.”
