HistoricBaseball.com
taking a break
I've been doing this site for a number of years and,
lately, baseball just isn't holding my interest the way that it once did.
I'm busy at the moment working my way through school and I've decided that now
is the time to take a break from the site.
My payment to the host is due on Dec. 1, and sometime
between now and then, I will be making a decision as to whether I wish to
continue this site.

CECIL TRAVIS
During WWII, Duty Called
for All-Star
Cecil Travis, a shortstop whose career was interrupted
by service in World War II, died on Dec. 16, 2006, in Fayetteville, N.C.
Travis hit .314 in 12 seasons in the major leagues. His
career totals included 27 home runs, 657 RBI and 23 stolen bases. He was an
All-Star in 1938, 1940 and 1941. Duty called, however, during World War II and
like many players, Travis walked away from the game. He spent four years in the
army and, during a mission to France, suffered severe frostbite on his toes.

Questions and Answers
A couple of years ago, the site was
receiving so many different questions and requests for
information that I launched a "Question and Answer" page.
I've decided to relink this page to
site. From time to time, I may add questions to the page.
